My little man is starting preschool in the fall. I keep talking about it, but I still can’t believe it. He would have been there this year had he been born a month earlier. I’m thankful that he is an October baby! We still do lots at home to make sure he’s ready for preschool in the fall. I’m always looking for new and fun ways to work on letter and numbers because they don’t really interest him. This activity was right up his ally!
I drew ten parking spots on the driveway and numbered them. I then put a small piece of tape on each car so that I could draw dots on them that corresponded to each parking spot. (Tip: Use washi tape because it won’t damage the paint on the cars.) He counted the dots, then found the parking spot for each one.
He loved it! He counted the dots and then counted out the parking spots since he can’t recognize all the numbers just yet.
This was adapted from an activity that matches upper and lower case letters using cars. I love this idea too, but the little man isn’t ready for that quite yet. I’ve got him hooked with this parking game though, so I’ll be keeping the letters in mind when he’s ready.
