Day 354 – Wine Cork Trivet

{0 Comments}

I have so many different crafts pinned that involve corks. I love collecting corks almost as much as I love drinking wine…almost. My husband got me a great wine cork coaster kit for my birthday last year. I know they have kits for trivets too, but I was able to make one myself. All you need is an old picture frame!

Materials:

old picture frame
hot glue gun
corks

Directions:

1. If you would like, you can remove the glass from the frame. This will recess the corks a little more. I kept mine in only because I couldn’t remove it. I used an old decorative frame that I used to have hanging in our kitchen. Also keep in mind that you might not want a hot pot coming into contact with your frame depending on what it’s made of. Not all frames are heat resistant.

2. Arrange the corks inside the frame. I actually couldn’t believe that they fit so perfectly. I thought for sure I would have to trim some.

3. Use hot glue to attach the corks to the base.

4. Attach felt pads to the bottom of the base so it doesn’t scratch your table.

I love that I can keep this on display when it’s not in use. I think I might actually keep the hanging bracket in place so I can hang it when it’s not being used.
