This is such a random tip, but it definitely works. I don’t know about you, but I don’t always have time to frost and assemble my cake as soon as it has cooled. To prevent your cakes from drying out and cracking, place a piece of bread on top.

The bread will turn really hard and go stale instead of your cake. Weird, isn’t it?! I left my cake sitting out on the counter for a good couple of hours until I had time to frost it. It was still as fresh as when I pulled it out of the oven.
