Day 203 – Saving Produce with Foil

{3 Comments}

Our fridge is filled with fresh fruits and veggies. When something goes on sale, I tend to stock up and hope that we eat it all before it goes bad. We usually do, but sometimes we aren’t so lucky. Broccoli was on sale this week so when I saw this pin, I knew how to make it last.

Wrap your produce in foil to make it last longer! This was only suggested for celery, broccoli, and lettuce. I’m not sure if it works on anything else, but I might be trying others if I’m happy with the results. It’s supposed to last for 3-4 weeks, so I’m excited to see the results. It’s been a week already, and so far so good.

  1. Cool! I’ll give that a try for the broccoli and lettuce. Celery can die a speedy death for all I care, though. :P

  2. awesome! i usually wrap mine in papertowels and put it in the veggie drawer of my fridge..usually get a good 7 days out of it that way, but will have to try this!

  3. This works wonders for us – celery stays crispy and good for weeks!
