I don’t know about you, but I hate the glossy finish that they put on fruits and vegetables. I’m pretty anal about washing all my produce, but how much does a rinse under the faucet really do? I decided to try this fruit and veggie wash.
1. Fill your sink or a large tub with lukewarm water. If you are using your sink, make sure you clean it first. The sink is the dirtiest place in your house. Add one cup of white vinegar to the water and mix. Since I was using a tub instead of my larger sink, I used about 3/4 cup.
2. Place your fruit and veggies in the tub and let them soak for 10 minutes.
3. Rinse well and enjoy!
If you are wondering why my apple looks white, that’s apparently a sign that it worked. The glossy finish was totally gone. The water didn’t look dirty, but I could feel grit on the bottom of the tub. The fruit didn’t taste like vinegar either. That would have been a deal breaker!
I have only tried this with apples, but you can check the original pin below where she lists other fruits and veggies that do well in this wash.
