I am lucky enough to have a gas stove for the first time in my life. I remember being afraid to cook with gas at first, and now I wonder how I ever cooked without it. We have an electric stove with a glass cooktop at our townhouse, and the last renters didn’t do a very good job of keeping it clean. I decided to give this cleaning method a try.
bowl of hot, soapy water
1. Fill a bowl with hot water water and mix it with some dish soap. Submerge the rag in the bowl and get it wet.
2. Sprinkle baking soda over cooktop.
3. Remove the rag from the soapy water, squeeze about half of the water from the rag, then lay it over the baking soda. Let the rag sit for 15 minutes.
4. Rub the rag in circles, using the baking soda as a scrub. The more baked on the gunk is, the harder it will be to remove.
This method worked pretty well considering how baked on all the gunk was. I’m sure it would do a much better job if you kept up with the cleaning. Hopefully our next renters will do a better job!
