Here’s another quick and easy tip! The next time you need only a tablespoon or two of tomato paste, don’t let the rest of the can eventually go to waste in the refrigerator. Freeze it instead!
1. Open both ends of the tomato paste can, but only throw out the top. Keep the bottom piece in place. You’ll need it later.
2. Wrap the entire can in plastic wrap and freeze overnight.
3. Pop the can out of the freezer and use the bottom piece of the can to push the tomato paste out of the can like a push-pop. You will probably need to run the can under hot water for a minute first.
4. Discard the can and wrap the tomato paste in plastic wrap. Slice as needed for cooking. It should last in the freezer for three months.
