I’ll be honest, I didn’t have any intention of making this at first. There’s something about adding soda to cake mix that isn’t very appealing to me. Then a friend of mine, Steph, made it and called it a rousing success. Well, then I had to try it! I think you should too. It’s a winner!

Ingredients:
Two 12-oz bags frozen mixed berries
1 box white cake mix
1 can of diet 7-up, Sprite, or Sierra Mist (I didn’t use diet)
Instructions:
1. Place frozen fruit in a 9×13 baking dish. Add dry cake mix over the top.
2. Pour soda slowly over cake mix. DO NOT stir the cake mix and the soda – this will give you a ‘crust’. Stirring the soda and cake mix will give you a cake like topping. It should look like this:

I know, it looks weird. Just trust me.
3. Bake 350 for 45-50 min.
I know it seems strange, but it really is good. It also makes your house smell amazing while it’s baking! I topped mine with a little vanilla ice cream and didn’t have to feel that guilty when I went back for seconds. What do you think? Will you give it a try too?

Looks delicious… I love anything with berries in it!
This sounds great! I wonder if it works with gluten free mixes?
Only one way to find out!

Thanks Jill! Consider yourself followed as well!
Like your blog, did not like the receipe however. Sme parts of the cake mix were powderee after the cooking time so I added some more soda and cooked it longer. Tasted ok but whipped cream on top helped a little.
